Frequently asked questions

Do I really want to know the results of a preventive medical examination?

It's an understandable thought: what if something is found during a preventive medical examination? Some people find reassurance in gaining more insight into their health. Others are unsure if they want to know an unexpected result.

This consideration is personal. It can help to know in advance how often a finding occurs and what happens next.

A finding does not immediately mean something serious is going on

In 12% of the examinations, a finding is made. Fortunately, this does not always mean that there is a serious condition. Medical specialists assess the examination results and distinguish between benign changes and findings that require attention or further examination.

An abnormality on a scan is therefore not automatically a diagnosis. Sometimes a finding corresponds to age, requires no action, or additional examination is needed for more clarity.

Knowing can also provide a perspective for action

A result can be tense, but it also gives you the opportunity to take action. When a relevant finding is detected early, a doctor can assess whether monitoring, lifestyle adjustments, or additional examination is advisable. Read our blog about the advantages of knowing your status.

You are not alone after the result

All Prescan examinations are assessed by medical specialists. You will receive an explanation of the results and what a potential finding means. If further examination is advised, Prescan will discuss the appropriate next steps and where you can go for them.

Advice for further examination does not automatically mean something serious has been found. It may also be intended to examine a finding more closely or to remove uncertainty.

Consider in advance what suits you

Are you unsure if you want to know? Then ask yourself what more insight into your health would mean for you. Do you mainly want reassurance, a better understanding of certain health risks, or to know if further action is needed?

Feel free to discuss questions or concerns with us beforehand. This way, you can make a well-considered choice that suits your personal situation.
