For an MRI examination, it is important not to consume foods such as beans (and related types), types of cabbage, onions, and carbonated drinks 24 hours in advance, as too much gas in the intestines and too much bowel movement can negatively impact the assessment of the abdominal organs. It is also advised not to eat game a few days prior to an MRI examination because it may contain shot pellets, which can cause interference on the MRI images, making them more difficult to assess.
