Prescan conducts preventive examinations to identify risk factors that may affect your health. Occasionally, abnormal findings requiring further investigation are identified to reach an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment advice.
A referral for follow-up examination is usually done by our cardiologists and dermatologists themselves via ZorgDomein. However, it may happen that your preferred hospital is not listed. In such a case, the cardiologist or dermatologist will make a digital request via ZorgDomein to your general practitioner to refer you to the clinic of your choice. The images and report(s) from your examination(s) at Prescan are available in your personal MyPrescan environment. You can also share these with your general practitioner and/or specialist at the hospital.
Unfortunately, a referral by our radiologist is not possible. Radiologists in the Netherlands only refer clients in exceptional cases (such as population screening or acute emergency) to a medical specialist. As Prescan's care does not fall under this, the radiologist at Prescan will, in the case of:
- a serious abnormal finding and with your consent, directly or as soon as possible, contact your general practitioner (by phone) to discuss a referral for further examination; Your general practitioner will then start the referral process via ZorgDomein.
- a non-serious abnormal finding, digitally share the report with advice on referral with your general practitioner via ZorgDomein. You can then contact your general practitioner yourself about a potential referral. Your general practitioner remains your caregiver and is therefore also responsible for ensuring you see the right doctor.
