Blood Test Female Hormones

Insight into your hormones

What is examined in the Blood Test Female Hormones?

In this additional blood examination, alongside a standard blood examination, we look at five female hormones. The female sex hormone estradiol is considered the most important. Additionally, the levels of LH, progesterone, FSH, and prolactin are determined.

The examination is only reliable if you do not use hormones (or natural hormone alternatives) and do not have a hormonal IUD. The contraceptive pill should not have been taken for 2 to 3 months in order to give an accurate assessment of the values. Even if you have a normal regular cycle, the blood examination provides little added value. Women in menopause should not menstruate for a year before they can have their hormones tested.

  • By measuring a wide range of values, you get a good overview of your overall health.
  • With the results, you can make lifestyle adjustments to reduce health risks, such as changes in diet or increased exercise.
  • Urine and blood examinations are simple and often painless ways to gather important information about your health.
  • Reliable results within a few days.

Provides insight into

A blood test for hormones in women provides insight into various aspects of hormonal health. This can help to better understand and manage a wide range of physical and emotional symptoms.

It is possible that an examination may lead to incidental findings. Before the test, Prescan will ask if you wish to be informed about incidental findings for which monitoring or treatment is possible, as well as incidental findings that may affect your descendants. Prescan is not permitted to inform you about incidental findings for which no monitoring or treatment is available (see NEN 8051 standard for more information).
