With the MRI scan, we can detect risk factors and (possible) conditions. This examination method provides a lot of information and is not harmful to your health.
During the MRI scan, you take a seat on a comfortable couch. It is slid into a tunnel that is open at both the head and foot end. The scanner makes a loud ticking sound when taking the images. That is why you are given headphones so you can listen to music.
During an MRI scan, it is important that you do not move while scanning. Are you claustrophobic? That doesn’t have to be a problem. Your personal guide stays with you until the scan to make you feel at ease. Our MRI scanner is extra wide, which gives a more spacious feeling. Are you getting anxious during the MRI scan? Then you can alert the technician with a bell.
The MRI scanner works with a strong magnetic field. It is therefore important not to wear metal in the scanner (such as jewelry, keys, hairpins) or have metal in your clothing (such as zippers or buttons). We ask beforehand if you have metal in your body or if you have worked with metals. It is possible that you could carry metal splinters without knowing. Finally, you should not wear makeup during the examination, as makeup sometimes contains metal particles.
